In 2013, when I first started using Instagram, I made a series of toy stories featuring a teddy bear I have. This teddy bear has a rainbow tattoo, and is a gift from a friend in New York.
I had to reduce my possessions from 100x to x when I moved from New York to Hong Kong, so for this teddy bear to survive that reduction exercise is very special.
Often, people look at gifts like this and would think that they’re “cringe” and so would never buy them. But because of that, this was the only teddy bear I have ever received in my life — and as such, special.
I photographed Rainbow Teddy doing things that I normally do. In some ways, these are self portraits — activities that I do anyway, but reimagined.
I’ve uploaded a pano photo featuring Rainbow Teddy actually to Getty Images. I didn’t include it on this post because pano photography on social media requires special handling.
