I found out that my new Canon EOS R8 comes with an iOS program that can connect to the camera, together with live preview with Wi-Fi — greatly simplifying the process of taking self-portraits.

Today, I placed the camera on a tripod, and took a series of selfies. It’s all natural light indoors, so the ISO is quite high (ISO 10000), but I post-processed the images with Topaz Photo AI to reduce the noise, together with some tweaks in Adobe Lightroom.

I’m quite happy with the results. Will be doing more in the future!

RAW without using AI Noise Reduction

I was asked by a friend to show the original RAW images without using AI noise correction. Here they are. Don’t comment on my skin. (LOL). In order to accurately compare A and B, I had to remove the profile corrections and lens corrections in Lightroom. The CR2 was fed into Topaz Photo AI directly without going through a Lightroom pass, and so it’s not possible to do profile correction afterwards.
