Which bulldog are you at the Feb Club?
Feb Club is a Yale tradition where alumni around the world get together in February just to drink. It sounds kind of silly, but it does the same thing Yale did for me and probably for lots of others — put people who think alike in the same room, and magic would naturally happen. Great conversations start, and you might even make some new friends.
I never skipped the ones in New York when I lived there. I had no clue Hong Kong had a Feb Club, but I’m excited to go to one later this month!
Since 2022, I have been experimenting with creating concepts using AI tools — Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and some custom Python programs that I write.
Working with AI is a lot like working with a design team. I dream up an idea and then work with the AI to make it happen, much like I would with people.
Sometimes, I use the creations from AI as they are. Other times, I use these purely as sketches of ideas, to drive conversations about specific art directions, and utilize these visuals to get the stakeholders on board with specific concepts.
I’ve realized that visuals often explain things better than words can. The txt2img technology has been a game-changer because it’s super fast. I don’t see it as a threat to artists and designers.
I view AI as a powerful collaborator, enabling anyone with a creative vision to quickly draft their ideas. It’s the team of 100 junior designers that I wish I had. It’s the team of 1000 interns who would never complain. It’s also the team of 10 clones that I wished would exist.
I’m hoping for a txt2human tool within my lifetime. It would solve my biggest issue: not having enough time. It would allow me to finally realize some ideas I believe could change the world and make an impact, without being limited by the most valuable resource in the world — time.
